Russian Business Visa Invitation

This type of Russian visa is issued for travellers, who visit Russia on official or private business.  It is not essential to be on a business trip to apply for a Business Visa, but you will need to supply relevant business information with your application.  There is no benefit for the bona fide Tourist to have a Business Visa, unless they wish to stay for longer than 30 days in Russia (a Tourist Visa will have a maximum stay of 30 days).

Business Visas are best for visitors who do not know their exact itineraries, who want to stay in Russia longer than 30 days or need to enter Russia frequently.  You do not need to provide information about any hotel reservations when you apply for a Business Visa, but you will need to show that you have adequate funds to support yourself while you are in Russia - which is usually satisfied by a letter from your Employer or Company confirming that they are meeting your costs while in Russia (the letter can be from your own Company if self-employed).

Business Visas to Russia can be single, double or multiple entry.  Multiple entry means that you can come and go as many times as you please during the validity of your Business Visa.  Business Visas can be granted for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months.  EU citizens (except citizens from the UK, Ireland and Denmark) can also apply for longer duration Business Visas (2 - 5 years).

When you order a Business Visa Invitation, we will apply for your official business visa support to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow and fax/email or mail/courier it to you.  Each Russian Embassy or Consulate may have different rules about how to apply for a Business Visa, but generally when you apply for a Business Visa they will accept a facsimile or scanned and printed copy of a Business Visa Invitation for a single or double entry for 1, 2 or 3 months.  For multiple entry Business Visas, your Russian Embassy or Consulate will usually require that you submit the original of the Business Visa Invitation with your Business Visa application, for that reason there will be additional cost in having the original Business Visa Invitation sent to you - usually by courier.

You can generally apply for a Business Visa Invitation no more than 45 days before the date of entry to Russia (Note:  a 1 month limit applies for 5 day processed Invitations and 2 weeks for 3 day processed invitations), so when you apply for your Business Visa Invitation, you need to allow for the time to process the application, the time to get the Business Visa Invitation delivered to you and the time to process the Business Visa application at your local Russian Embassy or Consulate.  Generally, you can only apply for a Russian Visa at the Russian Embassy or Consulate in the Country where you are resident, although some Russian Embassy’s and Consulates will accept applications from non-residents, but they will generally impose limits on how quickly they will process the application for you - often no less than 14 days.
